Jody Espina of Jody Jazz Mouthpieces had been developing Classical clarinet and saxophone mouthpieces for two years before he purchased Chedeville. Once he had access to many of the Chedeville original mouthpieces and scans he was able to combine original Chedeville mouthpieces with some of his designs and with “Chedeville Rubber”. The results are stunning.
The Chedeville RC Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece creates a warm and beautiful saxophone tone, with excellent control and intonation. Combination of the medium-length classic 'Chedeville facing curve' and a round chamber ensures production of a full tone, with playability that is unsurpassed. When designing and crafting the RC Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece, Chedeville priotised the ability to express both the saxophone's beauty and the music you are playing, in addition to articulation, a pianissimo to fortissimo dynamic range and altissimo.
No expense has been spared in creating the Chedeville RC Saxophone Mouthpieces. This includes starting with a proprietary 'Chedeville Rubber,' which is a more-pure rod ebonite, recreating the great rod rubber found in the legendary pre-World War II Chedeville mouthpieces. If you don’t see the symbol CHR on the mouthpiece, then it is not constructed from 'Chedeville Rubber.'
The mouthpieces are manufactured from beginning to end in the Savannah Georgia factory, using state of the art CNC machines and expert mouthpiece artisans on the crucial and indispensable handwork.
During the development of RC line, hundreds of mouthpieces were played and studied in order to bring out the true essence of the tenor saxophone. For example, wooden flute-like qualities were enhanced on this mouthpiece, while still retaining a nice round sound in the horn's bottom end.
Chedeville mouthpieces are subject to the most extensive series of mandatory measurements and play testing in the industry.
